EVALUATION OF HEALTH

Introduction:

Eating right and exercising regularly is really important for staying fit. A balanced diet includes less of the fats and more of the proteins and carbohydrates. The main reason for weight gain in people is more food taken and less consumed as physical exercise. The increased weight is responsible for many health problems and thus closely monitoring the weight and engaging oneself in some form of physical activity is a necessity. There is a certain fixed range of weight at a fixed range of height and people should follow that. Following a strict diet and exercise plan really helps to maintain good health at all ages. Avoiding habits like smoking and taking too much alcohol is also detrimental to health.

Main Body:

The physical activity is really helpful in maintaining well being of the body. I am a 5’ 9 and 155 lbs and stay on a strict diet. I avoid taking alcohol and smoking because it has a lot of health demerits. I try to maintain as much as balanced living as possible. Staying fit requires being in regular physical activity which I maintain as a habit. I take protein and carbohydrate rich diet and cut on the fats. The general diet structure should comprise more of the fibers like fruits and vegetables and less of the food products containing fat. Fat has the tendency of getting stored in the body and is also responsible for making obese. Thus, consumption of fat should be watched over and continued regular exercise is really necessary for that.

It is thus very necessary that the nutritional requirement should be fulfilled and ideal health and nutrition structure is followed which comprise a balance of regular physical activity along with controlled and nutrients specific eating habits. The diet structure followed should be having more of the protein content in the form of eggs, fish and chicken and a lot of fibers which is present in fruits and vegetables. The carbohydrate content should be contributed by taking breads, oatmeal and rice but the preference should be brown rice instead of white rice. White rice is high on starch and carbohydrates while brown rice is a mix of balanced carbohydrates along with fibers. Taking a fruit or milk for less hunger is always better than taking snacks which on fats and cholesterol.

Staying away from habits like drinking and smoking has long term effects on positive well being and thus any additive substance should not be taken in order to maintain healthy living. Taking more and more of fruits and vegetables also fulfills the vitamin and mineral requirements of the body which plays a big role in promoting health. The physical activity easily managed by all people is walking, jogging, mowing a lawn and riding bicycle and these should be included in the daily routine. Strenuous exercises and health supplements should be taken only with an expert’s advice when needed. Thus, knowing the ways to stay fit always helps in keeping well and disease free.

Conclusion:

The general diet structure should comprise more of the fibers like fruits and vegetables and less of the food products containing fat. Fat has the tendency of getting stored in the body and is also responsible for making obese. Thus, consumption of fat should be watched over and continued regular exercise is really necessary for that. The physical activity easily managed by all people is walking, jogging, mowing a lawn and riding bicycle and these should be included in the daily routine. Strenuous exercises and health supplements should be taken only with an expert’s advice when needed.

Economic, Political, Educational, Family, and Marital Systems

If your company was to do business in your chosen country, what kind of social hierarchies and social interactions should you be aware of?

The country I have chosen is Italy. If my company was to do business in this chosen country, there are more than a few different types of social hierarchies and social interactions that I should be aware of. For example, which managing and exploiting a vast and precious cultural heritage requires a well-thought-out cultural policy, and a continual balance to be struck between conservation and economic development, between making use of this asset and ensuring it is not “used up”, and between the conservation of ancient artistic works and nurturing contemporary art. Almost everyone is recognizable with the astonishing art that comes out of this beautiful country. As such, many of the citizens in Italy take their appreciation for art to a great degree. Yet, little government money actually goes to the cultural sector, a difference from what is noted in other European countries. Moreover, the revenue generated by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities does not end up in the Ministry’s own coffers but rather those of the Treasury, which then manages its allocation. This procedure, which was introduced in 2007, aroused a fair deal of criticism among the participants. A basic understanding of these points is critical for anyone who wishes to do business, trade, or any connections with those in Italy.

What kind of management style would you use to be most effective given the cultural attributes of the country?

Given the points I presented in the last part of this answer, I feel it would be most fortuitous to pursue a management style that appreciate and conserve the well-recognized cultural heritage there in Italy. I feel a successful business relationship with the Italians will take into consideration their tremendous appreciation for the arts. I would propose to all of my employees that they become recognizable with the Italian art, artists, and literature. Furthermore, I would encourage my staff to be protective of those amazing artworks.

How would you overcome the barriers to communication?

Obviously, the most important factors for my staff to be conscious of is the difference in language. In adding to gaining a better understanding of Italian art, I would also encourage my employees to take language classes in Italian. There are more than a a small number of companies that specialize in supporting new workers in a foreign land. Companies such as Rosetta stone have achieved achievement with their business and personal language courses. My employees could review these resources on their own time, and do with other employees at the office.

Do you agree with the saying, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” when it comes to doing business with another country?

This is a very delicate question. It is attractive as well that this question has to do with the culture of Italy. To provide my response, I would reply that I feel it is suitable that when in Rome to do with the Romans do, but only to a point. Moreover, I would not want any of my employees to lose the excellent customer service and superior values that our company has become recognized for. It will be critical to interconnect with the Italians in this new business venture in a way that is appealing. However, we should keep our American ideals intact.

Atrial Septal Defect

A&P D1

A hole between the right and left atrium is a defect called Atrial Septal Defect. Its symptoms are: Fatigue, lung complications and infections, shortness of breath, heart murmurs, lack of appetite, skipped heart beats or heart palpitations, swelling of feet or abdomen, stroke and bluish skin color. A hole between the right and left ventricles is a defect known as Ventricular Septal Defect. Its symptoms are: Paleness, difficulty in breathing, fast heart rate, failure to gain weight and cyanosis. The symptoms between ASD and VSD are similar. This is because in both cases the septum has a hole. Instead of the oxygen-rich blood being pumped into the aorta, it flows back into the right ventricle. Therefore, oxygenated blood in the left side of the heart gets mixed with deoxygenated blood in the right side of the heart. After mixing, blood that is pumped and transported to the body has less oxygen than required for body organs to function efficiently (Nakamura, 2009).

An artificial heart is a mechanical device that is connected to the heart to replace or help a failing heart. The two types of mechanical hearts are Ventricular Assist Device, VAD and Total Artificial Heart, TAH. The three essential characteristics that an artificial heart must have are as follows: a) A mechanism to push blood forward. Artificial hearts are powered by either electricity or compressed air. A thin cable links the pumping chamber to a console that controls the pump function. The console can be a large box that is put beside the patient or a portable one worn for more portability. b) A left ventricle that pumps the blood to the lungs after every heart beat. c) A porting valve which closes and opens to allow for blood to move from the left atrium into the aorta. d) A battery. It can be either internally implanted in the patient’s abdomen or externally worn around the waist (Goldstein & Oz, 2000).

Part 1: Poverty and Discrimination

Introduction

Poverty and discrimination are two major social issues that have continued to have a big impact on the lives of many people in the United States of America. Poverty and discrimination are closely related and intertwined since one always leads to the other and vice versa. Poverty is a state of having little or no resources such as money, goods, or means necessary to sustain life. Those who are stricken by poverty do not live a comfortable live, but merely survive. Poverty occurs in almost in all parts of the world. There are two types of poverty namely absolute and relative poverty. Absolute poverty is due to lack of basic human needs such as food, shelter and clothing. It is a life threatening condition. Relative poverty is whereby a comparison based on resources is done to determine the level of poverty. Discrimination refers to the differential treatment of people based on various factors such as their economic status, level of education, race, gender or ethnicity.  Although America has undergone tremendous transformation since the era of Martin Luther King, discrimination is still very rampant in United States.

According to the American Psychological Association (APA) the socio-economic status is determined by considering three vital factors. These factors are occupation, education and income. A combination of these three components determines the social class of a person or group. There is so much inequity in the access and distribution of resources in America thereby contributing to poverty.  Research studies indicate that race and ethnicity are the major determinant of socio-economic status of a person. In addition discrimination based on race, ethnicity and socio-economic status is a common phenomenon.
